This is the bit where you have to write something about yourself and unless you are full of self confidence it can be a little embarrassing.
So here goes.I left school at the age of sixteen with nothing — literally, nothing, just a few O-levels. Expectations were low: get a job — any would do — and join the rat race. So I raced. For a long time, I had no calling. I did a bit of everything, private and public sector, progressed up the career ladder, then fell down again. Started over.
Then I found writing. It took about sixty years, but eventually, it called me.
I also like reading, walking, exercise, good food, gardening, and laughter. That’s surely enough? They say, “Write about what you know,” so that’s what I try to do. I’ve written about growing up and life in the 1960s and 70s, gardening, a little history, and this blog. I write, calling on life experience, whatever the subject.
But most of all, I write to entertain. The world is hard; entertainment is needed. I hope the readers of my books will be entertained. If it makes you smile, if only a little, then my work is done.
From here, I hope to live a long time yet and write — there’s a lot more to do.
This is where it all started.
This blog is about a journey into the past to the present. It could include anything. I find that life is like that.
