The Madness of UK House Price Inflation — And What the Future Holds
I came across a recent article on house prices in the UK, and the average price increase going back around 25 years.
Using Nationwide’s historical series, the average UK house price was £274,930 in the first quarter of 2026. That is a compounded average annual increase of about 6.3% over 25 years.
So, I wondered what the price would be in the future, assuming the average of 6.3% is maintained.
I used an online calculator.
Let’s see.
In 25 years from now — about £1.28 million
In 50 years from now — about £5.93 million

Gardening, Allotments and Politics
The allotment has an important place in British history, providing a small piece of land to ordinary people, traditionally the working classes, so they can engage in gardening. A popular use is to produce affordable food in the form of fruit and veg.
Given austerity and a regular cost of living crisis in the UK, the allotment is a lifeline for many who often can’t afford fresh fruit and veg in the supermarket.
Anyone can apply for an allotment in the UK...
The Question of Age Verification and the UK Online Safety Act
Sites have several ways to check your age. They can ask for a selfie that is checked against your passport, driving licence, or government ID. They can also check with your mobile phone provider, or a credit card check.
Many companies now offer an age verification service.
One method can even check your email to see who you have been in contact with, like banks or anything that would indicate your age.

Global Warming and Property Prices. The Real Cost of a Sea View
But what about global warming, climate change, and rising sea levels?
A recent report suggests that UK sea levels are rising faster than the global average.
And here is a map of all the places that could be underwater by 2050 if rising sea level trends continue. In fact, according to this map, that East Midlands coast with the 68% premium, and average price of £428,330, will be totally underwater.
But don’t worry, house prices with a sea view are going up! Not only are you buying into rising values, you are also buying into rising sea levels!
