Just to say right at the start of this Christmas post, the billion reads on Kindle Unlimited does not refer to my book. I wish! No, it refers to a tweet I came across on Twitter X yesterday (I'm still going to call it a tweet regardless of what Elon says).
Here's the tweet.
That is over one billion reads, which is remarkable.
I then came across the post of another author who put up some impressive figures for her book that she wrote in four weeks. It had 6,881 sold copies and 3,507,664 page reads in Kindle Unlimited. I replied with the following comment.
In a world where many authors put up details of zero sales and reads on Kindle Unlimited, and I know what that feels like, these examples show that it is possible to have success. Big numbers may be rare, but they do happen.
I often wonder, how do you reach the reader on Kindle Unlimited? I'm not that good at self publicity, it just feels odd to me. That will probably be a separate post.
There is something else about the tweet that I posted, in that it currently has, 2600 “impressions” or views. The Twitter X algorithm never ceases to amaze me. Most of my tweets get around 50 impressions or so, and that's on a good day, but occasionally for some unknown reason it just takes off. There's a separate post to be written on that mystery as well.
